A. Apply for admission to Graduate School:
- Complete application online.

Note: Update your status. If
you have been admitted to UT as a non-degree student and are
currently taking courses (or have taken graduate courses at UT
within the past two years) you must submit a request for change
of graduate program form to the Office of Graduate Admissions
to become a degree seeking student.
- A $35.00 non-refundable
application fee is required at the time of application. If
the fee is not attached, the application will not be processed.
- Official Transcripts. One transcript from
each college or university which you have attended must be sent
to UT directly from the college or university that verifies your
academic history and degrees.
- TOEFL scores are required for international
applicants. A minimum score of 550 for paper-based test, 213
for computer-based test or 80 for internet-based test (iBT)

B. Apply to Department/Program of Study.
- Apply to Department/Program of Study.
- Rating forms. Three people, preferably academic
or professional, whom you have worked with, must complete and
send a rating form. Supply
them with this rating form (which
you have signed and a stamped addressed envelope. Rating forms
will not be accepted directly from you.
- Statement of Purpose:The statement of purpose
(not to exceed 250 words) should explain the applicant's purpose
for entering advanced study.

Apply
to Ph.D. program: Instructional Technology or Cultural Studies (Deadline
for submission of application materials for PhD programs is
February 1, 2008 with entry to program for Fall semester, 2008.
(once a year admission to PhD programs).
A. Apply for admission to Graduate School:
- Apply to Graduate Admissions and Records. A $35.00
non-refundable application fee is required at the time of application. You
may apply to the University of Tennessee Office of Graduate
Admissions online.

Update your status. If you have been admitted

- GRE scores. GRE scores, taken within the last
five years, should be sent directly from ETS to the department.
Expected scores for PhD applicants are 50% in verbal, 50% in
quantitative and 4.5 in writing.
B. Apply to Department/Program of Study. Deadline
for submission of application materials for PhD program (IT and
CS) is February 1, 2008. (once a year admission to PhD programs).

- Application for Graduate Assistantship (optional):

limited number of assistantships are available for students who
have been formally accepted into doctoral study. Each GA/GTA
position covers tuition and a monthly stipend depending on the
rank of assistantship awarded. Doctoral students can be awarded
funding for a maximum of three years based on successful completion
of duties. Funding is competitive and requires students
to be highly responsible. Students with assistantships are required
to take course loads prescribed for GAs/GTAs. Read

- Writing Sample: The writing sample should
reflect the applicant's ability to complete the required writing
in this graduate program. A sample of your previous research,
published articles or academic papers completed in former studies,
are good choices for a writing sample.
- Statement of Purpose: The statement of purpose
(not to exceed 250 words) should explain the applicant's purpose
for entering advanced study.
