Objectives Related to MPH Program Goals
Instructional Objectives
- To complete a focused review by the PHAPC of each public health
core course, involving examination of course design, learning
objectives, course activities, and linkage to the 12 core competencies
defined for the MPH program by December 31, 2009.
- To complete
a focused review by the PHAPC of required courses for each
MPH concentration of study, involving examination of course
design, learning objectives, course
activities, and linkage to the competencies defined for the
concentration by December 31, 2009.
- To increase the number of
public health courses incorporating team and group process
skill building from four to six by December 31, 2009.
- To increase
opportunities for self-directed learning by MPH students who
propose a specific plan to develop advanced critical thinking
skills by 5% by December 31, 2009.
Research Objectives
- To increase the annual average number of scholarly publications
to 4 per FTE faculty by December 31, 2009.
- To increase the annual
average number of faculty presentations and posters to 6 per
FTE faculty by December 31, 2009.
- To increase the annual average amount of external research
funding obtained by faculty to $90,000 per FTE faculty by December
31, 2009.
- To increase the percentage of public health seminars (PH
509) featuring research presentations from 15% to 25% by December
31, 2009.
- To increase the number of students involved in publications/presentations
prior to graduation from 10% to 20% by December 31, 2009.
Service Objectives
- To engage MPH faculty in service activities leading to a minimum
of five service activities for each category of community,
professional, and government service resulting in an overall
minimum of 15 faculty service activities per year.
- To facilitate service contributions of significant impact
as indicated by formal recognition of at least one MPH faculty
member during a three year time period.
- To increase the number of required MPH
courses incorporating community service projects from two to
four by December 31, 2009.
- To attain 100% involvement of MPH students
in community service through volunteer work, class-based service-learning
projects, or field practice by the time of graduation.
